Main Topic : “Madrasah Reform: A Challenge of Contemporary Islamic Education in 21st Century” Madrasah or Islamic-based school is one of main feature in Indonesia education since a long time ago. The role of Madrasah in Indonesian education is not just for the religious education function, it has utilized by Indonesia Muslim society as public education institution which taught multidiscipline knowledge as well as vocational institution which created skillful human resources. However, as the time goes by, digitalization of education in 21st century is a real challenge for a traditional-based education like Madrasah which need a huge reformation on its infrastructure, governance, human resources, educator professionalism and competencies of digitalized education. Thus, Indonesia Ministry of Religious Affairs cooperated with World Bank have launched Madrasah Education Quality Reform project which spent around $250 Million or 3.5 billion Rupiah to improve the quality of millions of Madrasah in entire Indonesia. This ambitious project mainly focused to transform Madrasah into a digitalized education institution which harnessing technology for a quality education. Therefore, the questions are how far the transformation of madrasah has changed in the couple of decade? What probably the innovation which could be fostering the improvement of Madrasah in every aspect such as school management, teaching and learning strategies, curriculum, learning assessment, and educator professionalism?
